Great work on your Beetle Blocks projects last week. Before we move on to this week's work, I wanted to share a solution to our Star of David challenge.

This week we are using Tinkercad. Watch the video below for how to get started.
This Week's Tasks
Learning Tasks
  • If you have never used Tinkercad before, do the seven "Starters" lessons from the "Learn" menu. This will be essential to understanding how the program works.
  • Do the "Die from Scratch" lesson. Send screenshots of completed die to [email protected]

Making Task
Using Tinkercad to design a 3D dreidel. When completed, email screenshots to [email protected]
Hints:
  1. Build from bottom of dreidel up
  2. Use the scribble function to make Hebrew letters
  3. Consider size, shape, symmetry, and proportion.
  4. Be innovative! I am showing you one idea for a dreidel, how can you improve upon this idea.

Here's a rough sample below.
Use your Tuesday class to try things out. You can email with any questions. I will be available to chat or "Google Hang" on Thursday during class time.

-UPDATE-

I received the same question, "How do I make sure my Hebrew letters are etched into my dreidel and not sticking out?" from several people. I made a quick video showing how to do that. If you had this question, check out the video below.

Greetings 5th & 6th Graders,

I hope you are all doing well. In my part of our elective I am going to introduce you some fun digital tools that allow us to create. Some of these will require code, others will not. The first of these is BeetleBlocks. Please see my intro video below.

We are starting off using a program called BeetleBlocks. The link to BeetleBlocks is here. Please watch the intro tutorial below.
Your challenge is to use Beetle Blocks to draw a Star of David. Once successful, send me a screenshot of your star and the code you used to do it. There are many ways to accomplish this.
Here's a photo of my star. I am not showing my code because that would ruin all the fun!

Please note, this is the lesson for Tuesday and Thursday. It should take about 2 hours, you do not need to do it all at once.
